On the Street

Jesse and Kalie met up with Courtney and I on the sidewalk in front of Midtown Scholar Bookstore around 1pm on a bright sunny summer day. We decided to use this space to take a few shots and get warmed up. It was hot and the sun cast hard shadows which wasn’t casting the most flattering light for portraits so we used a a soft box and off camera flash (AD-300pro) to help even out the harsh shadows. All of these images were shot with a Sony camera body and 35mm lens. We shot in a few different locations including in and outside of the market, and took a small detour into to Midtown Scholar Books. (:

Engagement Pictures in Midtown Scholar Bookstore

Inside Broad Street Market
In the early morning hours of July 10, 2023, a fire sparked inside the Broad Street Market’s main brick building. Within minutes, the building was destroyed, and the lives of dozens of staff and vendors, including the community as a whole, changed instantly. The Harrisburg Bureau of Fire determined in its initial investigation the fire to have started accidentally by an electrical issue with a fan. Local leaders including Governor Shapiro and Mayor Williams vowed to work together to rebuild the brick building. In the mean time, the displaced vendors use a temporary tent structure to conduct business with the community.
